Onyx Renewables Releases Inaugural Sustainability Report
The report details Onyx Renewables’ environmental stewardship, social empowerment, and responsible governance efforts in 2023.
Last year, Onyx Renewables published our first Corporate Responsibility Statement, describing our philosophy and commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) progress. Now, we are acting on that statement by publishing our first Sustainability Report. The report demonstrates Onyx’s dedication to transparent performance reporting and commitment to predicting and preparing for the challenges that we, our clients, communities, and partners may face in the future relating to clean energy and the energy transition.
Guided by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s (SASB) Solar Technology and Project Developers Standard, the report covers Onyx’s ESG impact, policies, programs, and performance data from Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2023. Following these standards, the report outlines our contributions to and alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Major milestones
By living and working by these principles, Onyx was able to demonstrably advance our sustainability efforts through a series of impactful achievements in 2023.
Environmental Stewardship
In 2023, Onyx solar power and storage assets generated 237,003 megawatt-hours of clean energy nationwide, enabling our clients to avoid an estimated 126,151 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Onyx’s impact is equivalent to taking 30,024 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles off the road for a year. By developing clean energy projects, Onyx is not only contributing to mitigating climate change, but also reducing air pollution and fostering healthier communities for generations to come.
Onyx also:
- Executed 75 megawatts of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
- Avoided 126,151 metric tons of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Estimated our Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions
Social Empowerment
In 2023, Onyx published a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement — committing to a workplace culture of openness and respect, where every individual’s background, perspective, and talents are uncovered, curated, and celebrated. Our team welcomed our first employee from the Hiring Our Heroes program, and we joined forces with Wreaths Across America to lay wreaths of remembrance to honor the military veterans who have served our country.
Onyx also:
- Recorded zero employee lost time incidents
- Published our first Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DE&I) Statement
- Participated in non-profit organization volunteer events and corporate match fundraiser
Responsible Governance
In 2023, Onyx established an internal committee responsible for the development and implementation of its ESG programs. By establishing a formal committee, Onyx is committed to integrating ESG in response to stakeholder expectations, including its team, clients, communities, and investors.
Onyx also:
- Aligned with SEEIT’s Responsible Investment Policy
- Published our first Corporate Responsibility Statement
- Established our first internal Onyx’s ESG Committee and a direct connection with SEEIT’s sustainability lead

We are steadfast in this vision and our commitment to continuous improvement, building trust, and enhancing transparency and reporting against its progress and achievements.
